SPOTLIGHT: Reaiah Rose Cubero

One of the best parts of the Lightbeamers Community is to see a woman burst onto the scene and then watch her rise!

Reaiah Cubero of ReeCreation Ministries first showed up during one of our Wednesday livestream days — she appeared quiet, nervous, unsure, yet concretely determined.

She stuck with it.

Week after week her confidence grew and her gorgeous storytelling unfolded.

She surprised us with her talents around spoken word poetry and artistic endeavors!

She’s passionate about mental health, and incredibly grounded in her faith.

She shows shows up regularly on live-streams on her various channels and is making a huge difference in this world, especially for other women who may also be struggling with mental health, conflicts around their faith, and identity crisis.

Take a minute to get to know her better in this months Lightbeamers Spotlight!!

APRIL: Tell us a little bit about your journey leading to the creation of ReeCreation Ministries?

SPOTLIGHT: Susan Tomlinson

BRAND NEW FEATURE SEGMENT
I'm thrilled to bring you a brand new feature to LIGHTbeamers -- a monthly community spotlight highlighting the story and journey of one of our resident LIGHTbeamers.

INTRODUCING Susan Tomlinson
Susan first stepped into the spotlight at LIGHTbeamers during one of our annual storytelling challenges in the Fall of 2019. Immediately following the challenge, Susan joined our VIP membership, the Visibility Accelerator.

What I noticed about Susan right away was her tenacity and consistency.
She was eager to learn, and willing to share her story! Every single month since she joined, Susan has showed up for every group strategy call and she's participated in all of our quarterly challenges and ongoing story prompts. I'm so impressed by her willingness to try things new and take action!

I love an action taker -- and Susan is an action taker!

When I first had the idea to start these monthly Spotlight features, Susan immediately came to mind...

How to Upgrade Your Story Endings

Listen to our daily blog-casts on Amazon. Enable our "What's Your Story" daily flash briefing and listen using your Alexa device!

Maybe you've heard that all good stories begin with a really great hook --- a visual or statement that hooks you into the story and makes you want to know more.

But here's another element your stories really need --- a deep, meaningful ending.

Far too many stories endings being told in business today are too shallow. They are too corporate. They concentrate on rational, economic benefits like make more money rather than emotional outcomes that are more focused on how it changes their life.

Let's face it. Your audience doesn't really care about your product or service.... and too many businesses spin their stories in a way that makes the products or service the hero.

Your audience has needs that have nothing to do with your products or services. .... and it's important you figure it out.

When you begin to tell stories in your business that speak...

A Mantra To Keep You Going

A Mantra To Keep You Going
"Simply Begin"..... I keep chanting this to myself as a mantra.

Once upon a time, I set a huge goal with a group of friends to train for a 50 mile trail run.  We trained over the Summer, and often hit the trails of the mountains in North Carolina. The training runs were always long and hard.... but in the end, worth it. We'd climb for hours in the hot blazing sun, all working towards that moment when we'd hit the summit and take in the gorgeous views.

I use those memories whenever I'm feeling stuck or feeling fearful about taking on a new challenge. I remind myself to #simplybegin

Sometimes, I want all the answers before I begin. Anyone else with me?

I want to know the "how".... but all we really need to know is our WHY -- why do we want this? Why is it important? Why does...

The Vulnerability Hangover

There’s a little-known side-effect to sharing your story that not a lot of people talk about — so let’s talk about it!

For a lot of people, the idea of having other people look at them, hear them, and observe them is truly unnerving. Think back to your school years, and the courage it took sometimes to raise your hand in class and answer a question. All of the other students in the classroom would turn and look at you while you spoke.

Or, if you ever had to get up in front of the classroom to make a presentation — the nerves you likely felt, by having so many people look at you, hear you, and witness you.

As we grow up, that stuff doesn’t necessarily go away — it just manifests into a whole different fear and feeling. I call it the Vulnerability Hangover.

Part of learning how to share your story is learning how to deal with the aftermath of feelings — feeling naked and exposed, feeling raw and tender. When you first get up...

MLK's Dream Sparks the Story

I can’t help but think about the power of Story today, as we celebrate and honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Here was a man so passionate for civil rights, he rose above adversity and used his voice to openly share his story as a means to blaze the trail for all of his brothers and sisters.

It’s awe-inspiring to think about the journey of Martin Luther King, Jr and how powerful his legacy is to this day.

Can you imagine if he had let all the doubts in his head keep him quiet??

I hear some of the same things over and over from amazing women who tell me they are scared to share their story —

Things like, “What will other people think?  What if they think I’m trying to be somebody special? What if my story falls flat, and it’s not exciting enough?"

Some of these same thoughts probably went through MLK's head at some point.... Can you imagine if Martin Luther King, Jr had let that fear get to him?

Now, I know...
